MALMO MINIMAL

Villa M2, designed by Jonas Lindvall A+D, is situated in a village south of Malmö, Sweden, next to a disused lime quarry that has now become a lake. The part of the building facing the lake incorporates generous windows and minimally defined space to encourage the integration of the house’s interior with its stunning natural surroundings.

Additionally, most of the interior furniture and fittings are specially designed for the house by Jonas Lindvall, making this residence truly unique both inside and out. As a furniture designer, Lindvall has made several prize winning pieces of furniture, amongst them the Oak chair that was awarded with the “Furniture of the Year Award” in 2001, and in 2004, Wallpaper magazine listed him as one of three “wise buys” – designer of tomorrow’s most collectible furniture. He has also been awarded the “Excellent Swedish Design award” four times and his work has been purchased by several museums in Sweden as well as the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

This project clearly carries with it Jonas Lindvall's belief that we live under some kind of resonance law - "Surroundings, rooms, furniture and things - they all have an effect on us. In this play, that is our life, the stage has to agree with the way we want to feel - but also affect the way we feel.” he says.

And we think a residence like this surely can't help but instill and encourage a feeling of peaceful tranquility in it's occupants...
