IN THE SHADE

When faced with a harsh climate and the need for shade, ARTEKS Arquitectura thought outside of the box and created this sculptural shade structure that mimics the shape of real nearby pine trees.

The structure was installed at a beachside park in La Pineda, Spain and due to the location, the salt from the nearby ocean would have made it difficult to grow the same pine trees that already existed on the site. By designing a fibreglass, salt-resistant shade structure (which even sways gently in the wind like real trees) they've echoed and complemented the effect of the pine tree’s shape without the need for extremely green fingers...
