It's taken ten years to restore it, but the Taj Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad, India, has been transformed after lying empty for thirty years.
Set in 32 acres of land and spread over 19400 square metres, the 19th century Palace was originally commissioned by Sir Nawab Vikar-Ul Umra; a Hyderabadi nobleman from the Paigah family, who was part of the famously lavish Nizam dynasty who ruled for over two centuries until India’s independence in 1947.
Although now, his palace isn't the preserve of Royalty and Heads of State any longer - you can stay here.
Managed by Taj Hotels, this private royal residence is a five star getaway featuring sixty unique rooms and suites, plus jaw-dropping restaurants and open spaces; with Nizam Royal Family members having personally supervised part of the Palace’s refurbishment themselves.
