TEN THOUSAND THINGS

TEN THOUSAND THINGS

Running until the end of this month at Luhring Augustine gallery in New York is an exhibition of works on paper and sculpture by Indian artist Zarina Hashmi.

Entitled "The Ten Thousand Things", her work reveals a minimalist sensibility, imbued with a materiality which mitigates the starkness of her reductive approach. Her art poignantly chronicles her life and recurring themes include home, displacement, journey and memory.

Distinguished by it's spare elegance, tactile quality and reverence for personal memory, Hashmi's work transforms the private domain into a sphere with universal resonance.

Worth seeing.
