The work of Andere Monjo inhabits that curious undefinable space between the boundaries of art and design. And it's all the better for it.
Her background is essentially a fashion one having graduated with an MA in Textile Futures from London's Central Saint Martins; yet her unique explorative approach has led her to specialise in experimenting with materials, colours and textures, playing across different media from contemporary crafts to illustration and film.
"Omnipresent Substance' is a book by Monjo, inspired by one of the most delicate substances that is usually underestimated or misunderstood: Water.
Intended as a design tool for future thinking and questioning the boundaries of traditional textiles, Monjo has crossed disciplines, collaborating with with a food stylist, an architect, as well as other designers to see how they interpret her thinking, opening up considerations of how 'materials' will be used in the future.
This singular interpretation of water, through its different states; solid, liquid and vapour, showcases innovative visual concepts addressed to all kind of creative thinkers and designers seeking for new clues and inspiration.
Beautifully captivating, and well worth seeking out.
