Accessories were more prominent than ever on the Fall/Winter catwalks. The platform is here to stay shoewise - and if anything they've hit new heights, veering into S&M mode at the fabulous and provocative Alexander McQueen show where a gothic horror theme prevailed.

Hats and headpieces also appeared in more presentations than usual, adding a dramatic edge to the season's rather sombre shapes.

The bag of the moment looks set to be the clutch, and if the bag itself wasn't a clutch proper, then models came down the runways grasping them as if they were.

Texture came in the form of exotic skins for both shoes and bags with inky glossy black being the favourite shade by a long shot.
