Porro will be getting to the heart of design at this year's Salone; returning to materials and surfaces. Showcasing natural woods, coloured metals, black and white decorations, contrasts of polished and opaque surfaces, it's pretty clear that Porro's experimentation in design will be squarely focused on the stuff stuff is made of.

Proposing 'Surfaces' with an installation by Piero Lissoni and projects by Front, Christophe Pillet, Piero Lissoni and Decoma Design - the firm have chosen a route of elgance and refinement mixing high-tech accents, décor mannerisms and a return to the roughest, most irregular consistency of solid wood. This approach can be seen in their choice of a very pale wood, with rich grains for their modular shelving system, System NXT which goes back to basics in terms of form, allowing the material to stand as stament enough. They'll also be showing a small series of black and white furnishings created by the Swedish group Front, (who seem to have been extremely busy recently) which we like very much. With their range, Front got playful with light and texture, creating three furnishing elements: a vertical two-door cabinet that is ideal for the bedroom, a sideboard for the dining room, and a horizontal container with coplanar doors.
