Camilo Ayala Garcia give us their take on this year's Milan Salone...
What have you been working on recently? Would you be able to give us any sneak previews of new projects you might be showing at Milan this year?
We are launching our bags brand based on a very simple concept of interchangeable interiors of the same so you don't need to change bag every time you change dress! You just need to change the exterior.
What does exhibiting at the Salone del Mobile mean for you? How would you describe the positives (and maybe negatives?) of the experience?
It is the best place to test an idea before going into production; a space where you gather information; test your designs. People are always very critical and that is very positive to improve the design itself.
We're sorry, it has to be asked - How do you think the current economic situation will affect the climate in the design world, and particularly this year's Milan Salone? Do you foresee any positive or negative knock on effects or adaptations that might happen as a result?
I don't think so, design is always able to transform society in periods of crisis, look what happened to Italy after the Second World War crisis and restrictions. Crisis awakens creativity!
Do you have any predictions for trends in design this year?
Design wants to go into fashion and fashion wants to go into design.
Is there anything you're especially looking forward to at this year's Salone? Can you let us in on the stands you'll be checking out for yourself/selves or new names to watch?
I never prepare myself for the Salone, I let people surprise me. I'll wait to hear from my friends after the first two days impressions and then I'll go to see what they recommend.
And of course, its not all work! Where do you think this year's best Salone party will be?
The Veuve Clicquot party was very nice. I think all the parties sponsored by alcohol brands are the best ones, the other have a lot of restrictions and protocols.
