DO THE TWIST

Burberry has many connotations. The classic trench - beloved of many a (posh) Grandad. The dubious checked cap - banned from many an English boozer; but head designer Christopher Bailey swept them all aside with the Burberry Prorsum S/S 2010 show.

Burberry is about youth, glamour and a heritage that everyone wants a piece of.

With London Fashion Week itself celebrating 25 years of existence this year, this was a show to make the Brits proud; and a collection for 25 year olds to covet. The traditional beigey nude tones of the House is so current (it seems to be one of the coming season's key colours) and the iconic trench coat was manipulated, twisted, re-invented into a huge array of silhouettes. Fresh pastels contributed to the youth factor (as did the short hemlines) whilst Bailey's mastery of twists, drapes, knots and shimmer added the glamour.

Stuffy it wasn't. This season Burberry was the stuff of fashion magic.
