From white to grey to orange-shot ikat to black, Gucci showed a Gucci customer-friendly Spring Summer 2010 collection in Milan over the weekend and if we could sum it up in two words, 'Luxe Sport' would be it.
The first set of all white ensembles were pure Italian glamour; tight, white, short and highlighted with cut-outs and metal, but once things got going, we liked it more and more. Some reviewers have been puzzled by designer Frida Giannini's inclusion of ikat print in the mix, but M.E. liked this colour splash amid the grey and the black - spotting at least one jacket (paired with hotpants...) that looks to be the 'trophy jacket' of the collection.
There were skin tight legggings with sportswear detailing and bandaged and laced cutouts that were sexy and current, whilst the grey was a nice colour choice - lending a refined air to much of the body-con.
As always with Gucci, there were a number of minimal, but entirely red carpet appropriate gowns at the end, but all in all, this was a show that largely concentrated on clothes for the active glamourpuss - essentially a large proportion of ladies who buy the label anyway...
