Sonia Rykiel's Paris Fashion Week presentation took place in her boutique on the Boulevard Saint-Germain; which is exactly where these clothes belonged. On the street, in the real world, away from the rarified closed-door world of fashion.
Rykiel's collection for S/S 2010 was a wearable, chic, fun and faintly retro set of pieces for women of every age, which are all things she's excelled at since the very beginning of her career.
It was sweetly sexy; evidenced by sheers and lace cutouts, it was cute; demonstrated by pop style headgear, punches of colour and short hemlines, and a very Parisian sophistication was also present in the form of some very nicely done knitted skirt suits and a hugely desirable little black tux.
We loved the fact that her models swished down the runway not just smiling, but beaming, laughing and dancing. This was a let your hair down, look good, feel good collection that we predict will disappear from the hangers faster than you can blink.
M.E. loved this.
