Designer Arianna Subri is in Eindhoven this week too, showcasing her latest products under the name Uroborodesign.
They're the result of her research into sustainable design, created using materials at the end of their life-span in one incarnation, or completely recycled materials, she emphasises their inner potential by searching for aesthetic and functionally surprising solutions.
Inspired by organic shapes found in nature, (pretty much the best designer in the world) Uroborodesign pieces are products for a life-style which is not only sustainable, but also fun and dynamic, where the final user must contribute by assembling and customising objects. This takes shape in adjustable light fittings like "Bye Bye Shangai' or flat pack seating like 'Sombrero'.
M.E. particularly likes the Quadrifoglio modular carpet made of 4x4 cm interlocking punched modules made of used inner tubes. The modular shape and the technology-free assembling, allow labour to be carried out by social cooperatives or even by the final customer, who can then freely choose the size and shape of the carpet and adapt it to their living space.
