STUDY BOX

Small, but perfectly formed; take a look at this pint-sized project by Danish Architects Dorte Mandrup. 'Study Box/Read-Nest' is a small prefab structure designed to sit in the landscape like an architectural folly.

Measuring around ten square metres, it's flexible in situation and use and can be placed wherever best suits your needs, whether you intend to study, or indulge in a bit of relaxation - or both.

The exterior is clad in vertically striated natural oiled wood slats that are designed to interact well with the immediate environment. Inside, everything is clad in waxed birch-plywood; light floods the space creating a bright contemplating oasis. It's fitted with a wall of shelves for your reading matter, as well as a bed that can be folded into the wall when more space is needed.

Above the bed there's a skylight for stargazing, and for the more studious amongst you, there's a work table with a view through the large window which can also be folded horizontally to create an outdoor cover.

One door, one window, one rooflight, one bed, one shelf, one table - essentially everything you need.
