TI AMO PIANO

Renzo is coming to Malta! And over here at the M.E. offices that's seen as a good thing. So good in fact, that we're devoting a whole section to the man in order to keep you up to date with the project developments, information on the man and his work and highlighting the incredible city of Valletta where his work will hopefully come to fruition.

The news that the Maltese government has re-commissioned Renzo Piano for the City Gate project came as a breath of fresh air last year. As a city, Valletta will benefit from the fantastic entrance it so deserves, and a modern one at that. Mr Piano is renowned for his ability to react to notorious historical situations, and is sure to give us something to be proud of. A project of this nature will only add to the fascination of Valletta, and with Fort St Elmo as it's counterpoint, City Gate will mark the entrance to a city that has moved on from just talking about it's future, and has actually moved closer toward it.
However, as with any project of any worth, the Renzo Piano City Gate project in Valletta is already gathering it's own library of comment and controversy. In our opinion, Malta has been screaming out for a signature project by a renowned foreign practice for decades, these projects induce growth, aspiration, and signal the intentions of both the administration that commissioned them as well as the country as a whole. Feel free leave your comments, we'd love to hear from you!
