And so, after running the gamut of New York and London, the fashion focus shifts to Milan.
After the barrage of 80s we were subjected to in the English speaking fashion capitals of the world, Milan, and specifically Giorgio Armani presented something much more contemporary - and quite suprisingly - something that appeared to be aimed at a much younger crowd than his usual clientele. For his Emporio Armani show, sweet, flirty dresses in a reassuring palette of black and grey were accessorised with neat little berets - straying a little from the very adult, formal aesthetic Armani is usually known for, particularly since the majority of looks were also paired with girlish knee socks. However, it was agreed by most that the huge array of coats and jackets that topped them that were the most covetable pieces of the collection as endless variations of outerwear (Princess coats, velvet jackets, buttery soft leathers and intricately knitted cardigan jackets) came down the runway. But the biggest suprise was that after what seems like countless seasons of thick black opaque tights, is how fresh and current sheerer deniers looked. Fashion lesson for today? A great coat and sexy legs are where it's at for A/W 08...
