We announced the news last year that Phoebe Philo, she of the perfectly cut trousers and gasp-inducing Chloe collections, was set to take the reins at Celine. And here is the first collection; take a peek at Celine Resort 2010.
The collection was presented in New York on Thursday, and marks a change in direction for both Philo and Celine. The designer has matured, presenting a series of pieces based on masculine tailoring; many cleanly structured and very contemporary. Colourwise, rich marine blues play off shades of nude and white, a dusky pink jacket with black lapels has cult-hit-instant sell-out written all over it and amid the menswear influences, there was soft chiffon and a hint of the wildly popular femininity of her Chloe years.
Philo reportedly commented that her interest lay in creating investment pieces and items to build a wardrobe with; if only ours could be built with this stuff. And the accessories? Clean, minimal, perfect. Want. Want. Want.
