We do appreciate a classic design, and when it comes to footwear, the Docs of our youth are kinda up there. Yes, they're not the most beautiful of footwear, but dammed practical for storming off in a stompy teenage sulk.
The iconic boot has had a revival of late, (thank you Agyness Deyn) and whilst we haven't dug out our classic black 8 holers out (replete with beads in the laces - c'mon you did it too) yet due to climatic conditions recently we're tempted to do so come Autumn.
Because we've seen these. The Doc Marten 'Pimped' by high fashion.
Raf Simons' shiny metallic line will hit stores in September, and Yohji Yamamoto - admittedly not the only one - is already making his in patterns such as coloured tweed and paisleys.
Investing in the original green or wine colour is one thing but we're not wholly convinced that the classic needed more (more expensive?) versions.
What say ye? Get your shimmer stomp on or stick with the original?
