COUTURE COLLAB

Couture week has kicked off in Paris following the men's shows, and young French couturier Anne Valérie Hash broke the mold with a clever concept for her Spring collection.

Taking the idea of personal clothing, memory and identity, she sent letters to people she admired asking them to send her something of theirs to transform.

Twisting Jean Paul Gaultier's Breton shirt into the top of a shimmering sequin gown, and Alber Elbaz's pajamas into a paillette encrusted jumpsuit, she also received Tilda Swinton's Vivienne Westwood t-shirt; which promptly became the perfect foil for a gorgeously slouchy suit.

Amongst other notable names who responded to Hash's unusual request were Pete Doherty, Daphne Guiness (arguably the owner of the best wardrobe on the planet) Charlotte Rampling and fashion doyenne Diane Pernet. (Spot the black veil...)

The result was a charming collection that showcased both Anne Valérie Hash's formidable re-working ability, and rather sweetly, the generosity of the fashion community.

We loved this.
