COLLEGIATE COOL

Hipster label (and we use that term in the nicest way possible) Proenza Schouler presented a Fall/Winter collection that seemed to be all about the leg, the dress and the coat.

Whilst we had salivated over their Pre-Fall, geek-chic collection, it seems that Proenza Schouler's nerd has evolved into something altogether cooler and sexier for winter. Babydoll lengths, sheer blacks (stockings and dresses alike) sat side by side with zappy print and teeny belted coats.

The college student plaid patterns of the Pre-Fall collection and been cleverly skewed, and those charming duffel coats re-appeared ferociously cropped; paired with skinny high-waisters sporting a scribbly splatter print.

There were a few misses for us; we weren't loving the overly clompy footwear (remnants of that geek look perhaps?), and the inclusion of fur collars (all over NYC right now. Hmm.) but these, in our humble opinion were really only detail blips amongst what was essentially a pretty directional and covetable selection of pieces.

Styling tips to nick?

Belt your coat, toss aside your safe opaques for a lighter denier and invest in some dark berry lipstick.
