LIQUID CARAMEL

If you were looking for concrete proof that the 70s are about to take over our wardrobes later this year, then look no further than Salvatore Ferragamo.

A 70s icon in itself, the house went to town with a myriad of staples from the era; knee boots under long skirts, neckties, fedoras, capes, t-bar shoes, skinny suits - you name it, it was there.

Luxurious shades of chocolate and camel, with anthracite, charcoals and hints of lilac were incorporated into soft knits and leathers alike. Whilst Vena Cava's Seventies vision had been artsy and avant garde, Ferragamo went for grown-up luxury daywear.

The evening wear looked a little stiff and formal to us by and large, although there was one beautifully slinky lurex halterneck which hit the right note. Really, it was the coats, wraps and boots that had us captivated.

Ferragamo, essentially went back to its roots this season - and it did it with aplomb.
