YOUNG HUNTING

Candice Agius is a graphic designer and art director based in Melbourne, but she's also the brains behind unisex jewellery label Young Hunting. Here's a peek at her first collection of pieces, called 'Fata Morgana'.

According to Aguis; "Each collection is a philosophical exploration that questions and transcends realms influenced by a thematic thought."

Fata Morgana takes its name from the Italian monikker for Morgan le Fay. Reputedly a sorceress and able to change shape at will, she was sometimes said to live below the sea in a crystal palace that could also rise above the surface.

With this background of myth and folklore in mind, these miniscule wearable sculptures have been hand carved from jet crystal, or cast in limited numbers in chunky, oxidised silver.

We think there's something about these pieces that appears at once futuristic, yet also ancient, and almost naturally occuring.

Maybe jewellery is the wrong term for them - amulets for the modern age perhaps?.
