VARIATIONS ON A THEME

Frankly, since designer Phoebe Philo joined the label just a short while back, we (like everyone else probably) can't get enough Celine.

The Resort 2011 collection has just been aired.

Our hopes were high.

We weren't disappointed.

Philo's minimal, classic style and investment wardrobe approach dominated the collection. There were potential heirloom accessories (the bags!) paired with practically each look and although strong linear shapes were key here, there were softer floral prints on show too.

Long, wide, tailored trousers (creating instant mile-long pins) were matched to tunics and gilded band chokers; soft, flimsy and faintly 70s secretary dresses strangely blended in seamlessly next to pristine white architectural suits.

In sum, the collection was a variation on a theme.

That theme being carefully considered, subtly luxurious, beautiful clothes.
