A sharp shape here, a punch of citrus colour there - MaxMara's new Spring collection for 2011 is not for the uber-girly.
With 'minimal' apparently being the buzzword for the warmer months ahead, MaxMara also demonstrated that a lack of frills doesn't necessarily mean a lack of femininity.
Clinging like mad to the female form, the Italian house went for a polished, 'together' version of womanhood (or to namecheck Thierry Mugler's newly released fragrance; 'Womanity') with body-con silhouettes that ran the full gamut of coats, tops, and even all-in-ones.
Block colour was paired with neutrals, and for the pattern-starved amongst you in this current landscape of 90s unfussiness, there were a couple of pieces in cheery polka-dots and stripes.
A bit of a surprise from the normally much less directional brand, but all the same, we rather liked this.
