CHLOE A/W 2011

In recent seasons, Chloe under Hannah MacGibbon's creative direction has been a beigey, creamy, camel-ey, 70s sort of affair, but for A/W 2011, there are distinct changes afoot.

The Chloe catwalk in Paris on Monday still had a little beige on offer, and there was still a palpable 70s leaning, but snakeskin patterns, colour, and a smidgen of eclectism was much more evident.

Patchworked blocks of yellow, burgundy and even red, slick black leather (actually lots of leather) and some beautiful wide trouser shapes were some highlights for us.

But it was the snakeskin, snakeskin, snakeskin; on shoes, on gauzy silks, on denim, on coats, and er, pretty much everything which was overwhelming.

The collection was much bolder than in recent seasons, but whether that translates into die-hard Chloe girls rushing to the stores is another thing.

That said, we liked this, and wait with bated breath to see what S/S 2012 will evolve into.
