Texure; in the form of sheen, skins, sheers and sequins was the overriding theme at Reed Krakoff's Spring 2012 show in New York this week.
That, and a hint of a nod to Mod.
Although this was a thoroughly contemporary collection from the stateside label, it also somehow managed to invoke a 60s futuristic vibe along the way.
Maybe it was the sharp tailoring, the wide hip height belts or the tank shapes and knee lengths, but this was all balanced by a beautifully fresh bird print on silk dresses, and a zingy citrus pallette - perfect for Spring - which was tastefully played down with a blend of nudes, blacks and whites in the mix.
Our favourite look?
A perfectly pared down black and white gown. Elegant, slightly diaphanous at the hem, but updated by its sporty vest styling on the bodice.
Clever stuff.
