After a brief foray into slightly more sculptured and tailored shapes for her Summer 2012 collection, Phoebe Philo seems to have returned to oversized volumes for the Celine Pre-Fall 2012 collection.
We're beginning to anticipate Philo's 'in-between' collections (Resort, Pre-Fall etc) more than the full ones in many ways - the strength of her concepts and the collective impact of her clothes seems all the stronger in these smaller selections somehow.
Black, white, royal blue and caramel made for a striking graphic colour scheme, whilst those baggy, slightly peg-legged trousers and a beautiful ikat print knocked what could have been standard 'Celine' fare into the realms of an intelligently off-kilter presentation.
On a personal note, we're not so sure about the use of all the fur (in nearly half of the 27 looks) but on the strength of one perfect high-waisted white silk dress, we're prepared to overlook that this time.
