Here are just a few timepieces from the first line on offer from rvndsgn - a newly launched boutique watch brand based in Michigan.
Formed just last year as the unique vision of American industrial designer Zach Raven, rvndsgn watches are the first of their kind, completely built using the latest in 3D rapid-prototyping technology.
Entirely hand assembled in Michigan, the small studio offer timepieces that are unique, economically accessible, and start a dialogue:
"We don't stock any parts, every watch is hand made for the purchaser. It might take a little longer than a huge stock and machines doing the work, but we think the customer will appreciate the handcrafted quality and know that the extra time to delivery is to provide the best possible product as well as one made specifically for them." says Raven.
Designed in stainless steel, with high quality Swiss movements inside and genuine leather wrist straps, the beauty of the manufacturing process shows the story of its creation through subtle grain on the case, allowing each watch to be unique.
We've never made a secret of the fact that we're not into garish logos and branding here at M.E. and whilst these watches tick those minimalist design boxes, they're also pretty green...
"Since the cases for the watch are RP'd, we dont need to invest in molds or machining time, we don't need to order 10000 pieces in order to be economically viable, and we can offer customization options that would otherwise be impossible." Raven explains, continuing:
"Not only that, but our process doesn't involve anything environmentally unfriendly. We have no material waste, no harsh finishes, and our boxes are made from scrap solid hardwood that would otherwise end up in the landfill or burned."
