All American company Billykirk specialises in rugged, vintage inspired leather luggage and accessories. The duo behind the line, Chris and Kirk, refreshingly prefer to keep designs simple and let the organic qualities of the leather speak for itself. "Leather is always changing and that in itself is very appealing to us. Says Kirk. "There are so many companies out there that add all sorts of unnecessary embellishments that they end up looking the same".
Much of the collection is made by a group of Amish leather workers in Pennsylvania, although they still do all of the finishing work in house; hand treating pieces with natural oils and beeswax, so what you see it what you get. "We are not reinventing the wheel; we are just designing with a more minimal, modern approach with an emphasis on hand stitching". Says Chris.
No fuss, no frills, just good design. Definitely worth a look is their online shop (they ship internationally) where they sell a range of bags, belts and small leather goods, plus there's a blog where you can check out some 'worn in' pieces.
