Ok, well perhaps not exactly like a lumberjack, but plaid, checks and tartan are up next for A/W 2008. Hip London label House of Holland (he of the now ubiquitous slogan tees...) sent mini kilts down the catwalk, Ralph Lauren did checked evening gowns and Commes Des Garcons deconstructed it with their usual panache. How you style it is up to you - go Grunge if you're pallid, or work that healthy Outdoorsy look if you managed to get a decent tan this summer.

It's a trend you can buy now and immediately incorporate into your wardrobe - chuck a plaid shirt over denim shorts for the ultimate Americana (or ahem... Shoreditch) vibe, and then come the change of season, layer it over dark skinny trousers and boots. Fur Trapper hat optional.
