A grey clouded sky is the setting for an ultimate combat. Two planes cut through the winter air, fly in breathtaking high-speed, reckless maneuvers above the snow- covered mountains and icy lakes. Two pilots, driven by blind fury, chase each other and thereby write cryptic messages of madness into the firmament.
Curious?
Then we recommend you catch the full ten minutes of this where you can.
“Paths of Hate” is a short animated tale by young director Damian Nenow about the demons that slumber deep in the human soul and have the power to push people into the abyss of blind hate, fury and rage; eventually falling into that abyss inevitably leads to downright destruction and extinction.
Filled with spectacular scenes of aerial combat, Nenow's film resembles an action comic book put in motion in its construction, narration and, most of all, in its innovative and technically-advanced stylization of the images based on 3D graphics.
The subject matter is also bit of a departure from the Polish talent's previous work:
"Having made a funny film about a sun from a TV set, I wanted to create an equally surreal but much more dynamic and serious action film. I have always been fascinated with everything that rises up in the air. I could not imagine a topic more exciting than a duel of two fighter planes." says Nenow.
A simplified version of Paths of Hate constituted his final diploma project at Lodz Film School, which Nenow recently graduated from, and will soon enter festival circulation.
Action fans, look out for this one.
