Portuguese filmmaker Pedro Maia has just created this new music video for Polish musician Jacaszek using Super 8 footage.
Jacaszk released his new album 'Glimmer' a few weeks ago on the Ghostly International label, and this video for the Dare Gale track is the result of a collaboration between Jacaszek and Maia - adding a new name to Maia's growing collaboration list which includes projects with Panda Bear, Lee Ranaldo, Fennesz, Sandro Perri, Joy Orbison and Thomas Brinkmann.
The Dare Gale video is based on super 8 footage shot by Michal Jacaszek and Pedro Maia in Porto, and the final result was achieved in the dark room using analogue light manipulation of the celluloid and superposition film:
"The manipulation transforms the viewing of the the video into a subjective experience - 'the eye of the beholder' - and the analogue manipulation leads to imperfections and unexpected results.
It starts from the premise of conciliating sensations, uniqueness and unpredictability that begins as an organic entity which can be thus altered by new means."
Beautiful stuff; click above to watch.
