With the start of a new year, the desire to change your surroundings often follows; and for lovers of type, Sarah Milton's unusual designs for wallpaper might just be the thing.
Based in her hometown of York in the UK, Sarah specialises in hand silkscreen printed typographic wallpapers (as well as artist prints) having originally started out in graphic design.
After making the switch to textiles, she took her passion for typography with her, and now works solely with letterforms, numerals and characters.
Sarah's first collection of wallpapers is entitled 'Legible Process/Illegible Type' and is a playful switch between what is usually legible, typography, and what is not, process.
By creating obscure geometric surface patterns though abstracting typography into new shapes and forms, the patterns are then mixed with marks and textures collected during silkscreen printing to communicate how the wallpapers are made.
And as a final artisan touch, all the wallpapers are hand silkscreen printed by Sarah personally.
