Mayfair hotel revamped by David Collins Studio

As part of their huge £70 million refurbishment, Mayfair's Connaught hotel has given what was once their 'American Bar' an elegant update that references both contemporary design and plays expertly with the whole hotel's concept of 'era and aura'. Renamed 'The Connaught' and designed by David Collins Studio, the new-look Connaught oozes traditional Britishness - palpable through elements such as Saville Tow tailoring in the broguing detail of the furniture, and classic colours such as British Racing Green, granite grey and tobacco browns. It's not a totally new fit-out as it was considered crucial to retain the old world glamour that the hotel is famed for, so a revamp and restoration job on the existing English oak panelling was undertaken to great effect.

It not only looks different, but tastes different too - a new food menu has been created by the Connaught’s award-winning chef, Hélène Darroze, who has introduced some of her signature ingredients and flavours from the south-west of France. Add a selction of exclusive vintages and limited edition champagnes, spirits and liqueurs to the mix, plus a six section cocktail menu which includes a new take on the classics then you've got the recipe for a seriously luxurious evening.
