SHIGERU BAN DESIGNS TASCHEN'S 30TH ANNIVERSARY BOOTH AT FRANKFURT BOOK FAIR

Where would coffee tables be without them?

We're talking about Taschen; publishers of art, anthropology and aphrodesia who are celebrating 30 years in business this year.

To mark the occasion, Japanese architect Shigeru Ban has designed a special anniversary booth for them which they'll be bringing into Frankfurt Book Fair 2010 which is on from the 6th to the 10th of October.

Shigeru Ban is widely known for his use of paper and birch plywood as a structural element, and he's used a similar approach here for Taschen's temporary booth.

Inspired by the roof design of the new Centre Pompidou-Metz, it's curved lattice-work wraps around the books on display and allows them to be fitted between the geometric spaces; becoming part of the structure itself.

We couldn't think of a better birthday present.
