Rena Dumas Architecture have recently completed this beautiful retail space for Hermès within the premises of a 1930s swimming pool in Paris.
The 1320 square metre project - the first store for the luxury fashion house on the Left Bank - is in the heart of Saint Germain des Pres, and fills the space left by the swimming pool at the Hotel Lutetia.
Within the large space of the listed Art Deco pool, the firm inserted four braided ash huts with nest-like organic forms standing over nine metres in height to contain collections and different products.
The opening also demonstrates Hermès’ serious move into interiors, with nearly half of the space devoted to home furnishing products; including a flower shop and a bookstore, as well as furnishings fabrics, wallpaper, carpets, and the new Jean-Michel Frank par Hermès numbered furniture re-editions.
