Canadian design and architecture firm Naturehumaine have recently completed this residence - and have scooped a Marcel Parizeau award for it.
Their clients wished to enlarge an 800 square foot bungalow by adding a second floor to the existing structure, but running into a series of constraints and problems that precluded their initial extension ideas, Stéphane Rasselet and Marc-André Plasse of Naturehumaine came up with the concept of compressing the spaces on numerous split-levels to yield the desired extra rooms.
The result is this beautiful double height interior filled with sunlight and finished with raw natural materials.
We love the combination of contemporary (yet homely) white airy space and warm wood floors in particular, and reckon the award was well deserved.
