GILGAMESH KETTLE ONE VODKA BAR BY CHRISTOPHER JENNER

Christopher Jenner and his studio team have recently completed this bar for Kettle One Vodka.

Installed in the Gilgamesh restaurant in Camden, London, over a thousand kilos of copper and 10,000 rivets were used in its construction - a task that took copper craftsmen over two months to complete.

The form and structure of the bar is heavily influenced by traditional copper distillery vats used in Holland since 1691, while the challenging space; a triangle with a concave panelled wall and glass walls on two sides, left Jenner and his design team with with few placement options:

"To beat the challenge we employed a 5 metre swoosh which wraps the back wall facilitating the convex shape to the left and an integrated three metre hammered concave shape to accommodate the stools and service area." Jenner says.

"Each of the stools is constructed with a complex internal structure, providing a solid surface for the labour intensive Annealing and panelling process. Each stool is connected to the floor on rotators allowing 360 degrees of movement."

The manufacturing process involving all this custom craftwork was a painstaking and fascinating one; click here to see some of Jenner's workshop shots of the bar in progress.

All in all, we reckon this project is a beauty; and the perfect softly glowing environment for a strong drink on a cold dark night...
