As sweet as the things it sells, we love this retail interior by Canadian design studio Surface3.
'De Farine & D’eau Fraîche' is now open in Montreal; a pastry boutique whose founding concept is a marvellous blend of 'love, naiveté, and escapism'.
In designing this space for them, Surface3 sought to capture the essence of pastries and the way we enjoy them in a way that is simple, magical and lasting; from the exchange of pastries as a ritual signifying love and friendship, to the pleasure inherent in simple indulgence.
Surface3 also designed not only the retail interior, but sorted out the complete package for their clients; including developing the brand strategy and the visual identity.
The sculptural lighting and custom-made furniture finished in dark wood give the feeling that you're in an enchanted forest (which awesomely also contains cake) and the blending of the spatial details with the goods on offer give the whole thing a sort of Paris bistro-slash-gingerbread house feeling.
If you live in Montreal; all we can say is, lucky you.
