During the London Design Festival manufacturer De La Espada presented a range of great new things within their ‘PRODUCT’ exhibition. One of the new designs that caught M.E.'s beady eye (see another here) was the 'Tou Chair', designed by Japanese practice Leif.designpark and manufactured by De La Espada.

We like the new application of a traditional Japanese craft such as basketry, into a contemporary seating design. The bit you sit on is intricately hand woven in rattan and attached to an upholstered frame - a block of tactile colour which adds a modern weight to the piece.

The old meets the new in a perfectly understated blend.
