THE GREAT OUTDOORS

Design behemoths B&B Italia have launched their 2009 Outdoor furniture range at this year's edition of Maison & Objet.

There are not one, but three new pieces by Patricia Urquiola who seems to be encouraging us to simultaneously eat up and slob out with her newly shaded Canasta circular armchair, Crinoline table, and also a Lazy armchair-chaise longue; which, whilst not the prettiest piece of furniture she's ever created, looks supremely comfortable. (Watch that sunburn if you fall asleep...)

Jean-Marie Massaud has created a beautifully minimal 'Springtime' table which almost looks a bit too refined and elegant to cart outside, but we love Naoto Fukasawa's smoothly curved Titikaka bench that (as we've come to expect from Mr Fukusawa) is the perfect balance of tactile material, sparing form and sculptural personality.

All in all, an M.E. thumbs up across the board.
