GLYN PETER MACHIN

What have you been working on recently? Would you be able to give us any sneak previews of new projects you might be showing at Milan this year?

We are currently working on some of the worlds largest private superyachts from 60 to 155 metres in length. At Milan this year we will be exhibiting a new patent protected sun lounger moulded in a single piece in high tech carbon fibre.

What does exhibiting at the Salone del Mobile mean for you? How would you describe the positives (and maybe negatives?) of the experience?

Exhibiting at Milan is one of the highlights of our year. It can only be positive to be at the Salone del Mobile show.

We're sorry, it has to be asked - How do you think the current economic situation will affect the climate in the design world, and particularly this year's Milan Salone? Do you foresee any positive or negative knock on effects or adaptations that might happen as a result?

The Salone del Mobile in Milan is one of the most important design events of the year and will lift people's spirits. Of course there will be some people effected with a downturn in business, but such a prestigious show will give all kinds of people involved in design confidence that great design remains important; no matter what how the economic situation is.

Do you have any predictions for trends in design this year?

I think our new carbon fibre in white lacquer will be the hit of the show

Is there anything you're especially looking forward to at this year's Salone? Can you let us in on the stands you'll be checking out for yourself/selves or new names to watch?

Of course I will be excited to see what the major Italian design houses introduce this year. It can only all good. A new name to watch and who will debut at Milan 2009 is Glyn Peter Machin!

And of course, its not all work! Where do you think this year's best Salone party will be?

I will know more after the show...
