Pernilla Jansson's design work is full of good humour, quirky reinvention and simple approaches to interior spaces.

Focusing mainly on lighting (although Jansson's portfolio also includes a mobile square, ceramics and mirrors) her use of components such as suction pads, or even poppers, allows the manipulation of quite minimal or recognisable objects, giving them new lives with each tweak or rearrangement. From 'squashed' ceramic shades that break the monotomy of perfect spheres, to a elegant tube light that has more in common with a jungle vine than an overhead light fitting, the work of this young Swedish designer ably proves that you don't need complexity to achieve an effect - just the knack of appproaching things from an unexpected angle...

"My work is a playful investigation of things that surround me. Using everyday objects, sometimes already in existence, I create new visual constellations in a different context. I want to disturb the order of things and bring in the unexpected, make people wonder or smile. My inspiration springs from everyday situations and normal choices that end up becoming abnormal and unexpected for the casual observer". Says Pernilla.
