MASTER CRAFTER

In a world where the latest 'design' pieces sometimes seem to have about as much longevity as cheap harem pants, (i.e. none) it comes as a refreshing change to come across a small furniture company dedicated to the craft of producing proper furniture.

Statestate company BDDW builds each piece by hand in their Williamsburg, Brooklyn studio and have quite rightly made a name for themselves with their heirloom quality solid wood furniture.

Their finishes are all hand rubbed with natural oils and lacquers and pieces are traditionally joined, using only select domestic hardwoods. Painter and sculptor Tyler Hays founded the company, and as head designer, his artistic eye for detail shows through.

Maybe a bit minimal for some, but fans of 50s Danish classics will find plenty of future classics here to salivate over.
