Birkiland´s goal is to introduce, sell and support Icelandic design and assist in its future development in Iceland as well as around the world. Their online store offers a great selection of Icelandic design including pieces by the fabulously named Ingibjorg Hanna Bjarnadottir and Ragnheidur Ingunn Agustsdottir whose pieces offer a peculiarly nordic twist on the usual. Not content with offering an array of objects the company also operates pop up specialty stores. Each store offers selected Icelandic design and features a coffee-shop, an art exhibit and various spontaneous events. They also publish brochures, magazines and books related to the Icelandic design scene as well as a blog which is well worth a look.
