We're announcing it a little early, but it pays to be prepared. From the 16th until the 19th of May, the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York will play host to this year's International Contemporary Furniture Fair, a four day extravaganza of contemporary design aimed at pushing forward fresh new talent and showcasing the best from established names.
2009 marks the 21st edition of the event, which is widely regarded as North America's premier meeting point for contemporary design. Around 145,000 square feet of the Javits Center will bustle with more than 25,000 interior designers, architects, retailers, designers, manufacturers, representatives, distributors, and developers. More than 600 exhibitors will display contemporary furniture, seating, carpet and flooring, lighting, outdoor furniture, materials, wall coverings, accessories, textiles, and kitchen and bathrooms for residential and commercial interiors. It's truly an interational affair, with representatives from Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, China, Denmark Finland, France, Germany, Israel, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United Kingdom, U.S., and Vietnam all set to be in attendance.
Expect awards, workshops, presentations and installations - and drinks - Dave Arnold, director of Culinary Technology, and his team at the French Culinary Institute have even created an exclusive cocktail for the ICFF Opening Night Party. The 'Grapefruit Ricky': a gin or vodka cocktail mixed with grapefruit, lime and ginger, garnished with a piece of rosemary sounds divine.
