Designer Frederik Roijé's latest project is an intriguing series of seating pieces in black and white - all composed of wooden planks, sheeny and laquered.
The series is called Squares and is comprised of Square Chairs, Waiting Squares; and even a Rocking Square (which is our favourite) all aimed at reinventing traditional furniture.
"Products have a habit of disappearing because of their functionality" says Roijé. "I want to prevent this by giving products an additional value. This value is the story behind the product".
It might just be the colour choice, but these kind of make us think of modernist chess pieces with their stylised lines and rather architectural build.
Well they do say it's hip to be square...
