Absorbing tradition and shaping it all over again; 'Gingerbread' is the newest collection of furniture from Italian manufacturer Lando.
The designs play with classical form, resulting in a stage-like, theatrical selection of pieces for the interior. Designed by Paola Navone (who also recently designed this which M.E. loved) and launched at Maison & Objet in January, it's been inspired by the imagery of Caribbean art and architecture, where "gingerbread" houses sport fairy-tale turrets, wood-carved gables, grids, banisters and framework with intertwined ornamental spirals.
Solid wood has been used in combination with iron, pottery, and parchment, with the wood left rough in places for texture. Unpolished edges contrast, and complement Lando's sophisticated manufacturing process.
We're liking the bench most. You?
