Take a look at this birdhouse designed by Sebastain Herkner for Radius.
Showcased at the Ambiente Fair in Frankfurt last month, Herkner's design can be fixed easily with a strap to trees or columns, removing the need for nails, hooks or screws, which could potentially damage trees.
Manufactured via a traditional aluminium compression process and with a circle of larch wood as the little house facade, its materials are as simple and honest as the design.

A nail in a tree causes a trivial amount of damage. The strap of this bird house could potentially have a girdling effect and kill the whole tree!

I like the simplicity of the design.
But considering the material, I think the inside temperature for the birds can be boiling hot during the summer and freezing cold in winter.
aluminium? with sun ? it gonna b empty, or the hot will kill all the birds...i supose.
