CENTENARY CELEBRATION

Josef Hoffmann is one of those giants of modern design - his pioneering, severely geometric style influenced an entire epoch.

A member of the Vienna Secession movement from 1897, and a co-founder of the Wiener Werkstätten, Hoffmann was also the brains behind some of the most iconic furniture designs that despite their age, still look as fresh as a daisy.

The Kubus armchair is one of these classics. Looking at it, it's kind of hard to believe the piece was designed in 1910, making it 100 years old this year.

Wittmann, who've held the exclusive rights to produce Hoffmann's furniture according to original designs since 1969, will be celebrating the centenary of the chair with a special edition - numbered and exclusively available in 2010 at chosen Wittmann dealers.

For this edition, the Kubus has been manufactured in black and chocolate brown waxed aniline leather and will feature a numbered brass plate.

But best of all, if you choose to invest in Hoffmann's Kubus this year, Wittmann say that each one will come with a free set of nesting tables as a thank-you to lovers of the classic design.

Two classics for the price of one. A pretty good deal we think.
