Here's a first look at the lovely Berlin-based Ett La Benn's new lamp collection.
The 'Malva' collection is inspired by the natural qualities of cellulose and viscose. The objects are generated by the forming of moistened sponge cloth and its subsequent hardening by air drying on a mould.
The translation of this material into individual design pieces through basic processes of forming and drying measures up to the highest demands in sustainability and eco friendliness since all the objects are compostable.
'Malva' will of course, be introduced at this year's Fuori Salone in Milan, at the 'Made in Berlin - Open Process Exhibition' which will kick off in via Tortona (along with everything else in Milan) from tomorrow.
Set up in the environment of a garage where tools, machines and materials reflect the daily work life, the will exhibition provide a closer look at the design processes - from the very first inspiration and concept, beyond various testing phases to the final prototypes. Also participating in this show are Culture Form, e27, llot llov, Mark Braun Design, Oliver Vogt and Studio Aisslinger.
M.E. likes the look of these Malva pieces. Part Chinese lantern, part archetypal umbrella, we think they're worth seeing in the flesh if you're in Milan this week.
